In the article listed above, a student-developed tool could be exactly what the schools need. Like other social networking tools, this tool provides other students with clean profile pages that can be maintained for everything from job interviews to electronic “business cards”.
I think that it is extremely interesting that the absence of a fiscal model (because, as of yet, no funding is needed) can be used to create a “clean” social network. There are several child-safe social networks, which will be explored in future posts, but I find the “self” development of this type of tool may indicate a clearer understanding of internet safety than is traditionally assigned to students.
The real question is… would you let this through your firewall in YOUR school or district? Why?
